Currently on hiatus.

The OpenBooks WebRing is currently undergoing an overhaul. During this time, existing webring buttons will function but no new sites will be added.

With the shutdown of the Yesterweb Webring, there has been renewed interest - however I have concerns about where such an influx of members might lead us to (namely, the same problems Yesterweb had) so I am going to take some time to figure out a better way for things to work here.

There will most likely be a complete re-write of the WebRing code and a more strict process to join it, to keep things from getting too unruly over time.

A static site webring.

OpenBooks is a webring focused on static sites - web pages hand-crafted by an individual rather than machine CMS code driven by machines.

The WebRing exists to showcase the personal, static web, as a modern - yet nostalgic - way to connect with the individual sharing their site with you, and to prove that that static websites are not a thing of the past. Personal pages have a place amongst the modern Web 2.0+ world.

But why?

Because the web should be personal again. The WebRing exists to showcase things made by people, not content curated to make money for the company providing you with a limited space and time to share it.

Join the ring:

Almost any site is welcome - as long as it's a static site. That means personal pages, blogs, a site about your pet, your trading card collection, your art porfolio, movie reviews, as long as you made it, it's welcome here.

There's no specific style or theme required - your site can be straight out of 1997 or blazing with CSS3 animations, as long as it's static and made by you. The only thing we do not allow is hateful content of any kind.
